Large-scale monoculture is accelerating climate change.

WE’RE WRITING A DIFFERENT STORY.

Industrial farming exhausts soils, pollutes water, and threatens biodiversity. But with syntropic farming, even damaged ecosystems can be brought back to life.

We’re on a mission to bring this farming method closer to the mainstream, currently managing two sites in South Holland with plans to expand further.

What is syntropic farming?

It is a type of regenerative agriculture which allows us to create dynamic, successional, and economically viable ecosystems that restore degraded soil and biodiversity.
It provides a way of producing food based on the principles of nature.

Our Work

We’ve partnered with landowners and farmers with long-term contracts and trained dozens of people on sustainable food production, bringing syntropic farming closer to the mainstream and giving the Earth a voice.
If you’re inspired by these efforts, we want to talk to you.

Our farms

Our syntropic farm locations are expanding across the Netherlands. From demonstration plots where we test designs to production partnerships restoring connection of people with farmland.
Each site shows what’s possible in practice.

Want to see the transformation firsthand? Our sites welcome visitors, volunteers, and future partners.

Our mission

We pioneer climate-resilient food systems that regenerate soil, restore biodiversity, and reconnect people with their landscapes – demonstrating that profitable farming and ecosystem restoration can go hand in hand.

What our partners
are saying

“I am interested in syntropic agriculture because one can help natural succession by building up the soil using pioneer plants and trees. My soil is very poor due to years of landscape fabric, and I believe this method will help us restore the soil much faster.”

ERWIN DE JONG
Farmer at Tuinderij WIJdehorst

“As an agroforestry-focused tree nursery, we’ve seen that the actual know-how on how to build and manage these complex systems, including educating farmers and stewards, is crucial. De BosBoerderij is building an exciting organization to address these challenges.”

ARNE DRISSEN
De Koperwiek and Golden Bird Impact Investment

“De Bosboerderij is more than a farm—it is a living system of hope. By investing in syntropic agriculture, we are not just funding the restoration of land, we are enabling De Bosboerderij, its founders and team to cultivate resilience, inclusion, and foster a new generation of ecological stewards. Rabo Foundation is therefore a proud partner of De Bosboerderij.”
